If actress Miranda Cosgrove had to buy a Christmas present for Carly Shay, the tech-savvy character she plays on TV, she'd head straight to the nearest Apple store. "Carly always has the newest gadgets," Cosgrove says. "She would definitely love the new iPhone."
Cosgrove, 15, is the star of Nickelodeon's hit series "iCarly," which follows the life of a young girl who produces webcasts with her friends. She's the perfect cover model for this year's gift issue because, for starters, standing at 5-foot-5, she understands that great things don't always come in oversize packages. And like her alter ego, Cosgrove loves tiny gadgets, although the actress is quick to admit that she's not nearly as plugged in as Carly is. In fact, her gift list this year is as analog as they come.
She'd like Santa to bring her a baby grand piano and a beagle puppy. "I've been asking for another dog for years," says Cosgrove, who is already the proud owner of a poodle named Pearl. "But she's so jealous; she even hates it when I pet my cat. My mom is totally on her side, so she won't let me get another dog."
Plus, it's not like Cosgrove's time isn't already stretched as thin as dental floss. In addition to her show and the demands of high school, the Los Angeles native is working on a pop-rock album due in 2009. Its sound, she says, will be reminiscent of early Avril Lavigne, with just enough edge to titillate her tween fans but not scare off their parents. Her weekends are primarily spent in recording booths, but she isn't bitter because "all of the songs are really upbeat, and it's fun."
I just wanted to check in really quick and let everyone know I hope they had an awesome Thanksgiving! I got to perform in the Macy's Day Parade and it was super fun! I was extremely cold haha but I had a great time anyways. I watch the parade every year so to get to actually be in it was the coolest thing ever! I was on the Build a Bear float and there were a bunch of kids on it with me dressed up in bear outfits. They were all really sweet but I kinda wanted to steal one of their outfits because they looked really warm lol. I also got to see David Archuleta and he was on iCarly recently so it was really great getting to see him again. He's soooo nice and funny! After the parade I headed to the airport to go Milan, Italy! It's my first time ever coming here and it's so beautiful! When I first landed it was snowing which made it even better because I'm from L.A. so I don't see snow very often. Earlier today I was on TRL and it was pretty cool because the hosts here know how to speak Italian and English. They would ask me a question in English and then translate in Italian. I talk really fast so it was probably hard for them lol. The main reason I got to come to Italy is for the Kids Choice Awards! They are in two days here and I'm soo excited! I heard there is going to be a ton of slime and some musical acts! I've been getting to travel a lot lately for the Kids Choice awards in all the different countries. Recently I went to Germany and London. I'm trying to learn a few phrases from each country but I'm not the quickest with languages. So far all I know how to say in Italian is Ciao :-P haha. Not too impressive. After this I'm heading back to L.A. for the premiere of "Merry Christmas Drake and Josh"! I can't wait for that because I love everyone from the show so much. Every person that was on Drake in Josh is in the movie so it's going to be a pretty crazy after party! Also I just finished a music video for a song I did called "About You Now" (it was on the iCarly cd). It's a cover of a Sugarbabes song (an awesome band from England) that I heard and loved. I was lucky enough to get to record it! Even though it's a cover song I really can relate to it. It's all about how sometimes you wish you could go back in time because you made a mistake and you know what to do now but it's too late. I think everyone kind of feels that way every once and a while. I had a blast because all my real friends were in the video with me and there was a super cute guy in it too. We shot the video at a mall so we got to go shopping and hang out all day. I have a really cool band and they are also in the vid. They are the nicest guys ever and they are always joking around! The video is going to premiere after the Drake and Josh movie (December 5th on Nickelodeon) so check it out if you get a chance! I really hope you guys like it and hope you are all having a rockin thanksgiving break!
Love, <3 Miranda
P.S. Thank you so much to all the people who have been tuning in to iCarly! I love getting to make the episodes for you guys and it makes me sooo happy that you are all enjoying them! We have been working on some really fun new episodes that I can't wait for everyone to see!
Miranda will be performing "About You Now" on a Build A Bear float during Macy's Thanksgiving Day Perade. Don't miss it. Miranda says on her myspace it will be great. Happy Thanksgiving guys!

Nick starlets Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy put on their Santa hats and best Christmas attire and jump in a life raft for another holiday special on Nickelodeon - iCarly’s “iChristmas”!
In the episode, Carly (Cosgrove) angrily wishes she had a “normal” brother after Spencer’s (Jerry Trainor) magnetic tree sculpture catches fire incinerating the presents beneath it. Mitch the angel appears to show her what her life would be like with a buttoned-up brother.
The special holiday episode will air on Saturday, December 13th @ 8PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon, so tune in!
I'll be adding behind the scenes images of the episode soon. You can see them here.
I finally put up the new layout. I worked really hard on it so I hope you like it. Since it has a lot of red it's supposed to be Christmass. Just to let you know, I am adding a Fan of The Month page under "interact" in the menu. You will be able to enter the contest and whoever wins will be featured on the site. Hope you are ready to sign up! Also, all affiliate links are now updated.
Miranda recently shooted the music video for one of her popular songs, "About You Now". Look for it soon to premier on Nickelodeon. I added 20 images to the gallery of Miranda shooting the video. Credit goes to Miranda Online.
